Toxic Port Project

The San Pedro port photography series is a reflection of the complex interaction between the port of Los Angeles and it’s surrounding communities. I have been fascinated with the industrial landscape of the port since I moved to the area about two years ago from West Los Angeles. Many of my photographs juxtapose the esthetic beauty of the refineries and the seemingly calm order, with the underlying toxicity and chaos. My goal for this project is to engage the viewer to look at my images with a sense of curiosity and trigger an emotional response about the social and political implications of the port.
